I have many credit cards in my wallet that offer to reimburse for fees for TSA PreCheck and Clear. If you have one of these credit cards in your wallet, I think you should go get signed up now! It gives you shorter lines a security. This is particularly helpful if you have an early flight.
Special Lines
There are special lines for people that have TSA PreCheck AND Clear. Finding these lines is not….um….clear. If you try to get into the wrong line (the line for just TSA PreCheck or the line for just Clear) they tend to turn you away. So beware.
What To Do If You Get Randomly Flagged?
The last time I flew I was randomly flagged to be more thoroughly checked. While this did slow me down significantly, I had an ambassador that stayed with me through the whole process. This made it much more pleasant. I have lots of experience flying and being randomly flagged. When you don’t have the ambassador through TSA PreCheck/Clear it can be a bit overwhelming.
It’s also worth noting that the last time I flew and got randomly flagged I was in a rush. I was flying internationally with a fairly long layover but getting my bags took forever and a day. I fear that if I didn’t have Clear and TSA PreCheck I would not have been able to make my connecting flight.
